FAQ

Humans alone can do Yoga. For physical health, mental peace and total being Yoga is the easiest, fastest and surest way. Yoga helps us develop so much of inner strength that even in adverse physical, mental and emotional condition, we are able to remain comparatively calm, balanced and much less affected. This is well understood when we undergo the disciplines of Yoga.

Breathing is only one of the many tools through which we get to the real Pranayama. Pranayama is to control and expand the shuttle vital force within the body to expand consciousness. Classical methods of manipulating breathing with disciplined rules of inhalation, exhalation, retention (internally and externally), joined with Mudra, Bandha and visualization result in the happening of Pranayama.

Meditation is a happening. It can be understood with the example of sleep. We prepare to sleep but we don’t know when the sleep induces. In the same way what we do in the name of Meditation are practices to withdraw the senses from their sense objects or practices of concentration. They are preparations. Perfection into these results into the spontaneous happening of Meditation. Sithilikarana (Relaxtion), Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses), Dharana (Concentration); follow one after another and one ripens into another culminating into Meditation.

Necessarily not. It is not the span of time that matters more in most of the cases but the intensity and the needed practices. Sanatana Yog Sandesh brings nice sequences of Yoga practices able to be performed in 90 minutes only. This combines a grand blending of Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara and Dharana which enables one to harmonize his different spheres of life.

Yes and no both. Ailments as a result of imbalanced lifestyle such as Indigestion, Insomnia, Back-pain are well cured by Yoga. But certain cases, for example genetic problems are manageable only.

According to Yogic texts this human body is a combination of two important elements. One is the life force; Prana Shakti and the other is the mental force; Chitta Shakti. We all are composed of this Prana and Chitta. Balance between these two forces makes life go on smoothly but imbalance between these forces causes diseases at physical, mental, emotional and psychic level. In Yoga they are termed as Pingala Nadi and Ida Nadi respectively; the two great Nadi that run within the framework of the spinal cord. This life force and mental force permeate the entire body. Prana and Chitta remain separate within the body. The union of these two infinite forces in perfect balance at the top of the spinal cord brings the mind into a state of fission. This fission manifests energy and then here is an explosion of what we say as knowledge. Then the mind which is the totality of awareness, Karma, emotions and thoughts is well understood, every action and reaction is handled and an individual is able to use it like a master. There is no Yoga and no evolution until an individual is able to tame these two infinite Prana Shakti and Chitta Shakti. The Prana Shakti can be balanced through Hatha Yoga; Asana, Pranayama, Mudra and Bandha and Chitta Shakti can be balanced through Kriya Yoga, Nada Yoga, Mantra Yoga and Laya Yoga etc. Thus Yoga is the most possible way which helps in the evolution of personality.

Should sweating be the outcome of Yoga then better we run for sometime as it allows us to sweat more. The least outcome of Yoga at the grossest level is relaxation.

Branches of Yoga means different approaches and ways towards spiritual evolution. In this context, Yoga has many branches, disciplines and faculties. All these branches are based upon enhancing the individual potential such as body, Prana, mind, emotion and spirit. Any branch of Yoga can be approached and practiced which in the end will lead to the final goal of life. These branches are time tested. One branch of Yoga complements another branch and leads to another branch. This is the beauty of branches of Yoga. Additionally, the branches of Yoga have many standardized ancient books written by enlightened masters which affirms its antiquity and relevance. They have also been confirmed by modern scientific research. Hence, branches of Yoga are to be properly adhered to and incorporated in our daily lives. Some of the ancient branches of Yoga are – Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Svara Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Nada Yoga, Mantra Yoga, Dhyana Yoga and so on. Jnana Yoga harnesses intellect, Karma Yoga harnesses action, Bhakti Yoga harnesses emotion, Raja Yoga harnesses mind, Hatha Yoga harnesses body and mind, Svara Yoga harnesses Prana, Kundalini Yoga harnesses Kundalini Shakti, Nada Yoga harnesses internal sound, Mantra Yoga harnesses mind through Mantra, Dhyana Yoga harnesses mind and so on.

Some of the modern brands of Yoga are – Ashtanga Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Vikram Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Yin Yoga, Acro Yoga, Power Yoga, Flow Yoga, Aqua Yoga and so on. Branding simply relates to business. After the 1970’s, commerce entered the field of Yoga and Yoga became a commodity for a lot of people. This became more effective, since westerners began to flock to Yoga. The contemporary teachers from India as well as from the west could not undermine the flow of money and to receive more, it was important for them to appear different. Therefore, they started changing the scheme of Yoga suited to the demands of their followers. This way branding started and many teachers became financially successful with this. Taking the branding as an inspiration, the following teachers also focused on branding and nowadays almost everyday a new brand of Yoga is being born in some parts of the world indiscriminately.

Most brands of Yoga are based on Asana which is one of the disciplines of Yoga. The most difficult part of branding is that people are also changing the original concept of Asana. For example, many new exercises have been added in the group of Asana, hyper movements of joints are introduced, exercises with quick movements are taught, too much focus of muscle stretch is introduced, too much movements are done until one begins to sweat, unnecessary use of props are introduced and so on. Some brands of Yoga are also altering the scheme of Pranayama and they are teaching totally resourceless techniques of breathing for some quick nervous responses which were never seen and heard before in the field of Yoga. In the similar way meditation and philosophy has also been replaced by self-developed techniques and ideas that look attractive to others. At some places Kundalini awakening, Chakra healing and other stuff are promised. Gradually the branding of Yoga is affecting the whole scheme of Yoga.

We never claim so and it is not so. Sanatana Yog Sandesh is simply an approach within its limitations which tends to share the experiences of Yoga as a result of certain disciplines of Yoga practiced regularly, devotedly and continuously.

Yes, our prices are affordable but higher compared to most schools in Rishikesh and India.

Our Yoga program fee has been considered from various points of view. Unlike any other business entity, we pay more attention to the quality of service we offer than the quantity of benefits we accrue from a business. The reason behind is very simple: we provide nicer facilities during our Yoga programs, the best level of education to the participants, free lifetime support regarding education, proper guidelines to the passed out students and many other possible help which the participants may need such as private care regarding study and coaching for their well-being. We offer best remuneration to the teachers and people who help us in the functioning of the Yoga programs. These all cost a lot which we share happily among all who are with us in this journey. These are the main reasons behind our standards of Yoga program fee.

We are not strict about it. However we prefer students to use white clothes and modest dress respectful for the culture of the place.

For all courses and retreats at all places in India as well as overseas, we recommend that students should arrive a day before the course begins. The first day in the morning around 10am inauguration ceremony takes place followed by other classes and programs. On the last day of the course, at 10am the graduation/certification ceremony takes place. After that students are free to plan their further trips of departure. Only in the exceptional cases, we change the time of inauguration and certification which we inform the participants.

In Rishikesh mostly yes, there is free Wi-Fi within the campus and one can easily access. Sometimes the Wi-Fi gets bungled because of weather and other reason. If we organize the course deep in the mountains then Wi-Fi may be tricky. During international Yoga programs we try our best to maintain the Wi-Fi facility. However, during the Yoga programs try to restrict use of internet to avoid distractions in life.

In India in order to come to Rishikesh, the main international airport is India Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. The closest domestic airport is jolly Grant Dehradun Airport.

One can also take a car from Delhi airport to Rishikesh which is around 6 hours by car drive. The car fare from Delhi to Rishikesh is around 6000 INR and from Dehradun to Rishikesh is 1500 INR. From November to February, the weather is colder. From March the weather becomes warm. April and May are hot. From June, rain begins to start. From June to August we have sufficient rain. Sometimes in September also rain happens. This is how the weather in Rishikesh may be experienced. The Heat, Cold and Rain – all are at their youth when they come.
