Meditation Retreat is designed for training the mind. The Retreat offers different techniques that could help us experience Meditation. There are many techniques with so many different names in Sanskrit such as Antar Mounna, Ajapa JapaVipasyanaChidakasha DharanaYoga NidraPrana Vidya, Pancha Dharana, Mantra Chanting   etc. and in the modern time what we call as “Mindfulness”  to work out the abilities of mind. We provide these methods which we can use as tools to attain what is already within us - relaxation, withdrawal, concentration and so on. During the retreat, an individual is expected to follow certain strict disciplines so that the experience of a subtler level can be had.

Meditation Retreat is organised for a certain technique which is termed such as - Antar Mouna Meditation Retreat, Prana-Vidya Meditation Retreat, Yoga Nidra Meditation Retreat and so on.

How it works - From our experiences, we know the ability of mind which can witness, identify with external and internal objects, visualise, imagine, to hold on to any particular internal and external object. These can be used to understand the mind and to explore the recess of the mind. For this the tools are - human body, senses, sense objects, sense perceptions and mind itself. In the retreat, we learn how to use these tools systematically.

Inclusions – 6 nights accommodation (Shared accommodation & Private rooms), Course material (books, notebook, pen, Jala Neti pot), Private Yoga consultation, Vegetarian food (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner), Weekend excursions (Temple visit for the Rising sun, visit nearby temples, Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh city) and Wi-fi etc.

Exclusions – Flight tickets, airport pick up and drop, longer tours and trips around, travel and cancellation insurance, medical assistance and things for personal requirements.

Accreditation - Sanatana Yog Sandesh is certified by Yoga Alliance USA and Yoga Alliance International which provide the chances to use the certificate for career and job opportunities. Upon successful completion of the course students are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance USA as Registered Yoga Teachers (E-RYT).

The Meditation Retreat is open to everyone however underwritten needs some consideration - 

  • The students should have some basic understanding of Yoga and Meditation which makes the program easier to continue. However even the beginners can join Meditation Retreat.
  • They should be able to practice discipline of Yoga such as purity, punctuality, early waking up, participation is the daily activities and so on.
  • Good command on English language as this is the medium of education.
  • Sound health physical as well as mental is a requirement however, if there is some health issue then this should be intimated to the school before registering for the retreat.

Meditation Retreat incorporates several  topics which helps one to enter into Yogic culture of meditation. They are –

Asana - (different basic postures from Hatha Yoga such as purificatory asana for lightness and purification of body, Standing, supine, prone – (backward, forward, spine twist), inversion and balance, specific asana for meditation and relaxation such as Sukhasana and variation, Ardha Pad

masana, Padmasana, Siddhasana, Siddha Yoni Asana, Swastikasana, Dhyana Veerasana, Vajrasana, Padadhirasana etc.

Pranayama - techniques for correction of breath, breathing to heat and energise, breathing to balancing, breathing to cool and harmonise. 

Mudra - Some basic gesture of fingers and body to affect energy in body such as -  Jnana, China, Bhirav & Bhairavi etc.

Shat-karma - Jala Neti (Nasal cleansing).

Meditation - Basic practices for mind management such as study of sitting asana, Yogic breathing with awareness, peace establishment,  Stillness of body, awareness of senses, awareness of thought process and Yoga Nidra, More specifically Kayasthairyama (Stillness of body), Bhao aaropan (Awareness of feelings) with still things, Sharira darshan (Body awareness) and Aatmajnana (Self-awareness), Chakra Awareness, awareness of symbols such as Shivalainga, Cresent/Full moon, Star and Fire etc., Antar Mouna, Chidakasha Dharana

Lecture on Some important topics – how to practice different practices of Yoga, how to make programme, ethical guidelines, Yogic life style, holistic approach of Yoga.

Karma Yoga - During the retreat individuals would be required those to participate into Karma Yoga. Depending upon the requirements we may involve you into this.

7 days (1 week) – The total duration for this retreat is 7 days however with the day of arrival this becomes 8 days.

The daily schedule for Meditation Retreat is tentative and subject to change according to need. All classes are held for 6 days in a week.

  • 6.30am to 7am – Herbal Drink
  • 7am to 8.30am – Hatha Yoga session (Asana, Pranayama, Dhyana)
  • 8.30am to 9.30am – Breakfast
  • 10am to 11am - Rest
  • 11.15am to 12.15pm – Lecture on Pranayama and Dhyana
  • 1pm to 2pm – Lunch
  • 2pm to 3.30pm - Rest
  • 3.45pm to 4.30pm - Personal cleaning and Karma Yoga
  • 5pm to 6pm – Asana, pranayama, Dhyana
  • 6.30pm to 7.30pm – Dinner
  • 7.30 to 8.30pm – Kirtan, Chanting and video show etc. (optional session)
  • 9pm – Bed time

How to arrive (Airports) – The New Delhi International Airport (IGI) is located around 240 Kilometres from Rishikesh and the Jolly Grant Domestic Airport Dehradun is located around 20 Kilometres from Rishikesh. From both airports the cab/car services are available to reach Rishikesh at our school. From Delhi it's around 6 hours drive and from Dehradun it's around 40 minutes drive. If you wish we may organize your journey to our school in Rishikesh at a reasonable fair.

Registration - Please Register or write to us via our email ( to check the availability of a place. It the place is available we will request you to fill in the registration form online. Then you need to make non-refundable deposit to finally be selected for the course.

Deposit - A non-refundable deposit of 300 Euro only for International, NRI students and total retreat fee only for Indian students plus transaction charges/commissions is required to confirm the candidature in the retreat. Please follow Payment.

Cancellation of the application for the course - For the time being we do not provide this facility. Therefore, properly decide before you deposit the amount for the course.
